Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation Review

You all know how much I love the Rimmel Stay Matte power, so of course when Rimmel came out with a Stay Matte Foundation I had to try it. This prodcut just came out and I found mine at Wallgreens. I didn't see this at my local target or walmart so I'm happy I found it somewhere because being the makeup freak that I am, I was getting super anxious to try this!

The packing is a plastic squeeze tube, which I like because the product comes out easily.

The formula is pretty thick, similar to the Kat Von D and the Tarte Amazonizan clay Foundstion.

What this liquid mousse foundation claims to do-

"A feather light, oil free formula with an airy mousse texture that won’t feel heavy or greasy. Delivers all day shine control and blends flawlessly for a natural looking matte finish. Minimizes the appearance of pores."

This has 8 different shades available, so there isn't a large color verity. I picked up the lightest shade they have, and it matches my skin pretty well. It is a tad bit too pink, but the next shade up would have been too dark.

My thoughts on this foundation

First I'm going to talk about packaging. I really like the squeeze tube, but you can't see the color of the shade in this one. The tube is solid so it makes it hard to pick a color. I felt kind of dumb trying to be sneaky and test this out on my hand in the store.

This is a pretty full coverage foundation. It covered any redness and imperfections that I had on my face with no problem. Which I think is pretty amazing for a drugstore foundation. I haven't used anything like this from the drugstore before.

The formula is pretty thick, but it's creamy so it blends nice. It dries pretty fast, so you have to work quick when blending it in. The first time I used it, I used way too much and it looked cakey. A little bit goes a long way!

This foundation is very, very matte like it claims to be. My skin is slightly oily, but it's winter so it does get dry too. This does help with oil control and keeps my skin matte. But I will warn you, if you have dry skin or any dry patches on your skin then this foundation is not for you. I have been sick so my nose is very dry from always having a runny nose (sorry gross!) and the foundation clung to the dry patches on it. For my girls who have really oily skin, you will love this foundation!

Also this lasted pretty will on my skin throughout the day. I work 10-7 and when I get home my face still looks great!

The price is super affordable. I can't remember the exact, but it was under $6. This is such a great foundation for an amazing price.

This is very similar to the Kat Von D, and
The Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation, like I mentioned before. I wouldn't say that it's an exact dupe for them, but this foundation is seriously great quality like a high end one!

Now that I feel like I wrote a whole book on this foundation, let me know your thoughts if you've tried this! It's definetly a steal and a new favorite for me!

  1. Great review!!! I tried the same thing---swatching this in store...the lightest shade oxidized on my hand too much before I left the store so I didn't pick it up. I loved the formula though! Just wish it came in more colors

    1. Thanks margo! I wish they had more shades too...this oxidizes a little on me too to a more pink toned shade.

  4. I picked this foundation up recently and found it too matte for me in the winter with my dry skin but I think it'll work out well in the summer when my skin gets oily.
