Maybelline Soft Matte Lipsticks- Daringly Nude and Touch of Spice

I feeI like I haven't written a blog post in forever. I just got back from vacation in South Carolina with my husband so that is why I have been absent from my blog! I've been keeping up with my blogger and bloglovin feed, but I still feel out of the loop!

Today I'm going to talk about and review the new Maybelline Soft Matte Lipsticks. I will admit that I usually stay away from true matte lipsticks because they are so drying on my lips. These had such pretty colors though that I caved and had to buy two of them.

On the left is Daringly Nude and on the right is Touch of Spice.

Top- Daringly Nude, Bottom- Touch of Spice.

I of course had to get a nude color because you all know I'm a sucker for nude lips. I was only intending to get one of these but I couldn't choose between the two.

Daringly Nude is a pink/brown based nude that's great for everyday wear.

I loved Touch of Spice because it's a pretty berry color that reminded me of fall, but it's still on the neutral side of the berry tones.

My thoughts-
I really do like these lipsticks. I think they are great for drugstore ones. The formula is good and really creamy. I don't find these drying on my lips at all. They are super affordable and they have a wide range of colors from nudes to darker ones. I wouldn't say I like these as much as my Mac lipsticks, but like I said, they are good ones for the price.
I also noticed that while wearing Touch of Spice it left a stain on my lips, which was nice because I had color on them for most of the day!

Have you picked up any of these new Maybelline Matte Lipsticks? What are your favorite ones? Let me know in the comments!

  1. You look gorgeous Ashley! I absolutely love those colors! I usually stay away from matte lipsticks too until I tried two matte lipsticks from MAC recently which are surprisingly not dry. I just not a total fan of their retro matte collection because the lipstick can feel so dry! I want to try these Maybelline lipsticks, thanks for sharing!

  5. Touch of Spice has become a cult favorite and it looks amazing on you. Sadly, on my deeper skin-tone it does not look as deep as it does on lighter skin-tones. On me it looked like a basic light rosy-mauve-pink. I wish it looked as deep and brown on me. :( I liked it, but it just did not give that bam effect. I sort of want to buy the Gerard Cosmetics Jaclyn Hill Lip Color in 1997 - maybe that will have that effect?!

    1. I think the Jaclyn hill color would look gorgeous on you!!! See we are having the opposite problem- while I do love touch of spice, I was hoping it was going to look a little bit darker on me. With my pale skin it looks a little brighter! I'm sure it still looks great on you! Thanks Meesha!
