Hello! If you are a foundation junkie like me, then you know when you hear about new ones then you always want to try them out. For some reason, everytime a new drugstore one comes out I want to get my hands on it! Why? Because they are affordable and easily accessible rather than making a trip to sephora or placing an order online (I do love my high end ones but I try to savor them lol!).
So today I'm going to review the L'Oreal Pro-Matte Foundation! When I hear 'matte' in a foundation description, it sparks my interest because of my combo oily skin.
The packaging is nice. I prefer squeeze tube foundations (second to ones with a pump). They are easy to use and you don't have to dip your fingers inside.
The consistency is pretty thick. I got the second lightest shade and its a bit too dark for me. I think the lightest shade would be better but unfortunately I bought this at a store 30 mins away from me and don't really have the time or energy to drive all the way there just to return a foundation. I'm still using it though, and in summer time it will match better.
About this foundation
from l'oreals website
Achieve a matte finish that won’t fall flat with this air-light, longwearing liquid formula. Lightweight and creamy, foundation goes on smooth with a demi-matte finish that lasts up to 24 hours—hiding imperfections for a smooth, clear complexion.
My thoughts-
-This is indeed a very matte foundation. If you have dry skin, this is not for you.
-I do agree with the long wearing claims, but I have not tested out that 24 hour theory (who leaves their makeup on that long??)
-This is a medium-full coverage foundation. It covered most of my acne scaring, but I still used a Concealor on them too.
-I was a little skeptical on trying this because I have not liked other Loreal foundations that I tried before (true match, and true match lumi).
-I find this one a little bit hard to blend because it dried really fast. A damp beauty blender works best for me when applying it.
-I do really like this one, but I don't love it yet. I think that might be because I have the wrong shade though. It's a good drugstore foundation, and it doesn't irritate my skin! I still recommend trying this out if you were thinking about it!
A side note
I also tried out a new Covergirl one called Utlra Smooth. You might have see a picture of it on my Instagram. For those of you who are curious about that one, I did not like it so I won't be doing a full review. The two shades I tried didn't match my skin and the coverage wasn't good, not to mention it was like $16! I was really disappointed because I usually have good luck with Covergirl!
I do want to try the new Maybelline Fit me Matte & Poreless one though soon! Has anyone tried it?
Have you tried out this foundation yet? What's your favorite one from the drugstore?
Thank you for this review! I love how detailed this review is and will definitely be giving this a skip. I actually love the L'Oreal Lumi, it's one of my favourite due to my dry skin. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI have the original Maybelline Fit Me foundation and I really dislike it. It's full coverage which I am not a fan of and looks like it sits on top of my skin. Ugh!

I'm glad this was helpful Shireen! It's definitely not one for dry skin! I forgot to mention that this one is pretty full coverage too. I probably don't like the lumi because I'm kind of oily lol! You might like that Covergirl one I mentioned actually!
DeleteGood review! I haven't tried the L'Oreal infallible pro matte yet, but will be soon! I did try the new Maybelline fitme matte & poreless one. I did a review on my blog if you want to check it out

I really liked it!
I will definitely check out your review, thanks for letting me know!
DeleteThanks for this review!! Really helpful because I am looking for a new drugstore foundation and I think I will pass on this one because my skin is getting drier than usual lately.
ReplyDeleteThanks margo, glad this was helpful!! Yes skip on this one if your skin is being dry!
DeleteI've never tried any l'oreal foundations, I'm quite happy with my rimmel one so I'll give this one a miss. I have the original fit me foundation from Maybelline but it's not my favourite. It's stored deep in a drawer now. Thank you for this honest and in depth review!
ReplyDeleteThanks Miriam, glad you liked the review! I haven't tried the original fit me one but I'll skip it since you don't like it. Maybe the matte one will be better for me!
DeleteI love reading reviews about different foundations and yours was really informative! I think I'll skip this one since my skin has been slightly dry lately. I think my skin is sort of dry because of the cold weather lol. Great review Ashley!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pilar! Yes it's definitely not for dry skin! this would probably be better for warmer months!
DeleteI just saw a commercial on this one! I might give it a try. I have the Maybelline Fit Me foundation. It is on the dewy side.I prefer Revlon 24 hr stay as my drugstore foundation.
ReplyDeleteIt's worth trying out! I think if you like the revlon color stay, then you might like this as well!! I need to pick that one up again, I haven't used it in so long!
Deletedamn damn damn, but thanks Ashley! i was hoping this foundation would work. it looked so promising. i have super dry skin so it won't work for me, plus the other problems. hahaha awesome review!
