June Ipsy Bag

Hello hello!!
I hope this post doesn't turn into a rant, but I didn't show my last months ipsy bag because it was disappointing and wasn't worth showing. It's the same case for this month but I'm going to show it anyways. I had months of crappy bags and then I had a few good ones so I was having hope that ipsy was stepping up their game. Now I'm back to being disappointed. Well, as disappointed that I can be paying only $10 a month :p

This months theme was Swim Into Beauty with a waterproof makeup bag.

These masks were the only thing I was kind of excited about, but only because I got three of them. They are from Bio Repulic and they are fiber masks. One is detoxing, one revitalizing, and one is soothing. I haven't tried anything like these before so I may do a review on them.

Next up is the Smashbox Photo Ready Primer. Now I think most would be excited about this but I am not because I already know this doesn't agree with my skin and breaks my face out.

I don't get excited about body butters or lotions in my bags. I have tons of lotions that I already use and my skin is sensitive so this is a big dud for me. It's by the brand Lavanilla which I have always wanted to try so I thought maybe it will be okay. No. This smells like straight up perfume and not a pretty soothing vanilla hand lotion like I was expecting.

Next up is a shadow stick by trèStique. I normally like stuff like this but I don't care for the color. I usually only like to use cream shadows on my lids and this is definitely not a lid color. I will give props for the cute packaging that looks like a crayon though!

Next is this god awful magenta lip crayon. I just cannot wear lip colors like these. They look great on a lot of people but I can't do it. Ipsy is famous for sending me the worst lip colors, I swear every month I get them.

So this bag gets a big thumbs down for me. I've considered unsubscribing but I wish there was another subscription box that was good that didn't cost an arm and a leg LOL. I'm too cheap to pay over $10 and all the ones I want are over $20 haha!

What did you get in your ipsy bag this month?

  1. I am with you on this month's glam bag. I received the primer (which I never use), the sheet masks (love), eyeshadow crayon (same shade as yours which I might try to use as eyeliner?), J.Cat lip stain (surprisingly gorgeous shade on me) and NYC eye liner. I don't hate this month's products but neither do I love them.

The lip crayon shade looks really pretty, Ashley. Have you tried no eye makeup except a cat eye flick and main focus is a bold lips? I think it would look really pretty on you.

I agree that ipsy is the most reasonably priced subscription out there, I pay more because I'm in Canada but I really hope they step up their game for next month. Looking at the list of products for this month, they are all just meh. :-/

    1. I'm glad some one feels the same as I do lol!! And good to know that you like the masks, that gives me hope for them!!

And I haven't tried the bold lips look with minimal eye makeup. I really should give it a go, but I feel like my skin is so pale with pink undertones so brighter pink shades just look blah on me lol! I do think it's a pretty color though so I'll try it out!

    2. I have not tried the mask but we can't go wrong with more mask especially when I am too cheap to go for facial. LOL! And I hope you'll give it a try, Ashley, minimal makeup with a bold lips, that's pretty much how I wear bold lips too or else I'll look like a cross dresser ...not that there's anything wrong with that but just not the look I'm going for. LOL!

  2. Aww I am sorry Ashley!! Although this makes me glad that I cancelled my subscription a few months ago! I agree and wish that there was a cheaper alternative beyond this or Birchbox. I definitely can't justify 20 a month on duds right now

    1. Haha it's okay margo! And I agree, $20 is too much for some duds, but all these $10 ones are adding up I feel like lol!!

  3. Too bad this month's bag isn't all that great. Those masks sound interesting I hope you decide to write a review. Even though I like colors such as the lip crayon you receive, Ipsy needs to realize not everyone is a fan of these shades of pink. I noticed that they tend to send these shades a pink in your bag quite often lol.

    2. You know I just realized my last sentence didn't make sense lol. I meant to say that Ipsy tends to send you a lot of pink shades in your bag. Idk what happened between what I was trying to say and auto correct! Lol

    3. Haha it's okay, I don't even think I realized the sentence was wrong because I knew what you meant haha

  4. It sounds like they're about to lose a customer! HaHaHa Ashley, you had me cracking up. I can't do subscription beauty, because I'm too finicky. LOL A friend of mine was going to give me one for a birthday present, and I was like save your money. I love the Smashbox primer, but I heard it doesn't agree with everyone. I always hear people raving about Lavanila but I never tried it. Oh well.On to the next! I'll be posting the goodies you sent me next week :)

  5. Oh that's too bad the products were a bust this month! I can't do subscription boxes because I can barely get through the stuff I have already! The last lip color is pretty (though also bold) and it's too bad it doesn't work on you. There is always next month ;)

  6. I know what you mean...some months are good and some just suck! LOL!
I am also too cheap to spend more than $10 on a subscription..although I do both Birchbox and Ipsy...I guess I could cancel both but then I'd HATE for Ipsy to start upping their game and miss out on all the goodies! LOL! I'm SO weird!

  7. I have to film my video for this. Your bag isn't too exciting. I got that lotion too and it feels empty! Lotions also don't excite me at all. I got a better color shadow stick. The masks seem to be the best thing in your bag.
