Maybelline 'The Brights Palette' Review

Maybelline has came out with their third palette called 'The Brights'! I'm not a huge fan of bright colors but after owning their other two palettes, I wanted to get my hands on this one too!

With these palettes being so affordable at $10, I don't feel as bad adding them to my endless Eyeshadow collection like I do when I buy an expensive one!

You guys already know I love The Nudes and The Smokes Palette, which you can find my reviews for them here and here, the second is comparing the two.

Now let's get into The Brights Palette!
Same packaging as the other two palettes. I found mine at Target.

The first thing I loved about this palette is that it comes with nuetral shades too. I love all the bright colors, but you get two Browns, some champagne colors, and a black too.

Swatches
So by looking at the swatches, these don't seem that pigmented or impressive. I felt the same way about The Nudes and The Smokes when swatched but they preform better when applied to your eyes. However when you get eyeshadows that are bright, you want them bright and expect them to be bright.  Thankfully, I have a solution to fix the pigmentation. The Maybelline color tattoos pair super well with this palette. Any bright Eyeahdow base is going to make bright colors more pigmented and standout more.

Look at what a difference these make in the swatches. They are much more vibrant and bright. I already owned all of these color tattoos, but any bright base will work just as good (Nyx jumbo pencils, colorful eyeliners, gel liners, etc.)

My overall thoughts
-This is a good, affordable palette that I think is very versatile because it had both Neutral colors and bright ones.
-The pigmentation isn't the best, but you as you can see you can make it work.
-For someone like myself who doesn't wear a lot of birghts, this palette is great because it's affordable and won't break your bank account.
-I still like the Nudes Palette the best out of the 3, but I do recommned all of them.
-This probably won't be a palette that o reach for as much as the other two, but I like to have fun colors like this for special occasions.

Have you tried out The Brights Palette yet? If so leave your thoughts on it!!

  1. I will NOT be purchasing these or hello drag queen to me, I kid you not. I can't even apply neutrals properly so uh huh to these. LOL! And why must you show me your collection of Maybelline Colour Tattoos?! Now I am itching to get more, I have 5 but if it's up to me, I want them all. LOL!

    1. LOL Shireen!!! Don't worry I rememcer the days where I thought I could slap blue and purple eyeshadow everywhere and I looked like a drag queen too. I'm still not 100% comfortable using bright colors but hey! I like to use them on the lower lash line ad stuff sometimes lol! And for real my color tattoos are like 4 years old and so dried up lol so pay no attention to my collection!

  2. Do you know I still haven't seen the smokes yet in stores?!! I haven't seen this one either. Idk what's going on lol! I've heard mixed reviews on the brights palette. The primary complaint I hear or read is the pigmentation isn't that good. It's such a shame because the colors are so pretty. I really like using bright colors eyeshadow I even have a few fotd's I look forward to creating for Spring and Summer! Great post Ashley!

    1. I've only saw this one time whe I bought it and it was the last one left. And I've only seen the smokes 2 times, and the nudes is always out of stock too! Idk why! Yeah the pigmentation isn't the best on these but with a good base you can make it work! Thanks Pilar, I can't wait to see your spring and summer looks!

  4. I think most eyeshadows work better with a primer/cream eyeshadow underneath anyway, so I wouldn't take points away from that at all - plus I usually never wear eyeshadow without some kind of primer unless I forget.

I recently got into super bright and crazy eye makeup because of dominiqueldr! Her makeup is super unconventional and even though I'm not a fan of some of the looks she does, she's a major inspiration for me to wear more color!

  5. You got the palette! I totally agree about the pigmentation, I don't have any of the color tattoos, and won't get it for a while because I am so strapped for cash now. Thanks for the tip on the Nyx jumbo pencil! :)

    1. Yes the jumbo pencils are great! Even just a white base would work for any bright color!

  7. I was scared of them at first, but after you swatched them they are not loud at all. Perfect for me! And hey you can't beat the cost. Color Tattoos have fabulous pigmentation. Excellent review Ashley.

    1. I think it's better if colors aren't too loud because then you can get a little color or build or up to how much you want! And thanks Kim, I'm glad you liked the review!
