Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette

Hi :)
If you all follow me on Instagram then you might have noticed some pictures I posted of the Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette!

I definitely did not need another eyeshadow palette, let alone another neutral one, but when I saw this I couldn't help myself. So thanks to the Sephora gift card that hubby got me from xmas, I could justify getting it a little more than if i was to buy it myself (excuse the excuses).

I never picked up the original Chocolate Bar palette from too faced, because for some reason it just didn't appeal to me. I didn't care for the packaging or the colors, etc. but this new one has a lot warmer toned colors and I just thought it was gorgeous. Plus it smells like Chocoalte, what else is better than that??

This can be found at Sephora, Ulta, and TooFaced.com. It retails for $49.
Here's the packaging and photos of the palette with the flash on/off. My silly self forgot to take a picture of the packaging while closed but I'm sure you have all seen this before so it's okay. Ha ha.

You get a nice mixture of matte and shimmer shades. I love how many matte colors are in this palette, they make for such good blending and transition colors. You also get two highlight shades, and that gorgeous teal color that I've been dying to play with.  The packaging is a metal case that has a magnetic closure.

Here's swatches for the top, middle, and bottom row. They don't look super pigmented when swatched but they go on the eyes much better!

Here's a look I did with the palette using 3 or 4 different shades.
I've tried out different colors and shades but for some reason all my looks end up looking super similar. So my plan to post a few looks in this post has sort of failed haha!

My overall thoughts
-I am completely obsessed with this palette. It's all I've been using and every time I walk by it, I have to open it and smell the chocolatey heaven ness.
-The colors are beautiful and great for everyday.
-I love how the names of the colors are printed under the shadow, and they have chocolatey names.
-They are a little bit harder to blend out than some shadows I have (ex. Urban decay naked palettes), but if you have a good brush and patience then it will work.
-It does have some fall out, which is kind of annoying but that's really the only bad thing I have to say about this.
-I really recommend this one if you were thinking about getting it!

Here's one last picture of the look I did! And I will have some more looks with this posted very soon!

Have you guys picked up this palette, or the original chocolate bar palette? Which one do you prefer? Leave your thoughts on them in the comments!

  1. Tsk! Tsk! Why are you tempting me with another eyeshadow palette, Ashley? My husband saw me reading this and he said "Don't you dare". LOL!

I have so many eyeshadow palettes and they are all sitting pretty in the box collecting dust. I am forcing myself to use them everyday (hello wonky looking eyes) so my hubby stop nagging about wastage.

p/s: How did you like your this month ipsy bag? I just received mine yesterday! Duh, so darn late! :-( Was wondering if you know anything about Glossybox? I am tempted to subscribe.

    1. LOL I don't mean to tempt you but this one is so worth it! I unfortunately have too many palettes that I don't use as well that I really should use more!!

I actually didn't get my ipsy bag yet! I'm so annoyed lol!! I think it might come today though so I'll let you know! I've watched a few videos on glossy box but I was actually thinking about getting boxy charm but it's $20 ;( it looks so much better than ipsy though!!

    2. Eeekkk! And here I am in Canada bitching about ipsy being late this month, somebody bitch slap me please! LOL!
I am surprisingly happy with mine even though I initially felt a little bleh! when I peaked into my Glam Room, I was impatient. I hope they continue sending my makeup brushes, this way I never have to buy any. :-P

  3. I don't have any of the palettes you mentioned, I really want to get this palette, mostly for the chocolate smell... how sad haha. I saw a youtuber use this palette for a really cool look. She used the blue shadow. I can't wait to see more looks with this palette :)

I'm trying to put myself on a no eyeshadow palette buy right now (let's see how long this lasts haha!) I really want to try this palette. The colors are so pretty and you look gorgeous! 5. I have the original Chocolate Bar palette which I have mixed reviews about. Some had good pigmentation, some lacked pigmentation, and there were a couple colors that were patchy. I see some colors in the new palette that are pretty similar to the original, so I probably won't purchase. It was a great review though! :)

    1. Thank you! I think some of the colors in here a a bit patchy too! And I guess if you already have one or the other of these, you don't need them both!

  8. This is so beautiful! It's a shame that they are a bit harder to blend than other eyeshadows, but an amazing palette regardless!

    1. I agree! It's totally amazing and that makes up for the lack of blending as good as others!

  9. Your hubby is the best Ashley! A way to a girls heart...A Sephora Gift Car! Love it! So glad you got this palette. I prefer the Semi Sweet over the Original Chocolate Bar also. I think the quality is better and you can get a lot more looks. Love the one's you created. Have fun with it.

    2. Found + followed you! I'm @entarotassadar ;)

Some people say it's nice to have both, some people don't think you need both... though I guess you could always give it a test run at Sephora and return it if it's too similar!
