Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer Review

Hello!
Today I'm going to share my review for the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer. I've been sitting on this review since last November when I purchased this at the VIB sale. I have really bad luck with primers and the only one that seemed to work for me was the Benefit Porefessional. I knew during the VIB sale that  the mineral veil was one thing that I wanted to try despite the horrendous price. I didn't care because well it was 20% off. Now I'm shaking my head at the price, even discounted.

This retails for $52 (1 oz) so I got 20% off. I'm bad at math so you can figure out how much I paid if you want ha ha.

I really wanted to buy the small size, which was .33 oz for $18 and I let the sales lady talk me out of it. Which, it is a better deal for the larger one if you like the primer.

Here's what it looks like. And here's my first complaint. When I first got it it was a thicker formula and felt very creamy. Now it's super watery as you can see from the first picture. Sometimes when I shake it up it gets thicker but doesn't stay that way, and sometimes it's still watery when I shake it.

My overall thoughts
-This doesn't irritate my skin or break it out like most primers do so that is the good thing. I do like the packaging too, it's really nice.
-It applies nice to the skin and feels silky. You need very little to cover your face, so it will last a long time. These are the two reasons I bought this product.
-As I mentioned above, it's super watery. It was good at first but I don't know what happened.
-I do not think this primer is worth $52. Or ever what I paid for it with the discount.
-I don't hate this but I don't love it either. I'm only using it because it was so damn expensive. I wouldn't purchase this again.

If you want to try this out, get a sample first or go for the smaller size if you don't mind spending $18!
Have you tried out this primer? If so leave your thoughts on it in the comments!

  1. No, I've not tried this but I certainly as hell won't now! LOL! Gawd damn, $52?! I rather eat $52 amount of food and later cry when I step on the weighing scale.

  2. Oh no! Hourglass is becoming hit or miss. The eye shadows they just came out with weren't that fab either. Their products are too expensive to be doing this. The fact that this primer gets watery over time is a bummer. So glad you told me Ashley. I want to try their foundation, but I'll definitely buy the smaller veil to see how it works with my skin. HaHaHa Excellent review! Very informative!

    1. I really think their blushes and lighting powders are worth it! But I don't think I'll try out anything else. Their eywsahdows never appealed to me for some reason!
They did tell me though that this primer works really well with the foundstion. Since I dont like the foundation, I didn't try them together! Thanks for reading Kim!

  4. Lol to you and Shireen's comments that was too funny! That's too bad this primer didn't meet your expectations. I can see what you mean when you compared the textures in the pictures. You would think some of these companies would make better products especially when the product is this expensive! Great review!

    1. LOL I'm glad you liked our funny comments!! She makes me laugh so hard haha!
And I agree! If something is expensive, I have off expectations for it! I really thought I was going to love this. I'm finding that I've been disappointed a lot with super expensive things lately!

  5. I have not try any of Hour Glass makeup products before. I think it is too pricey and since their products are either a hit or miss therefore I wouldn't want to get it. (will probably get it if only theres a very very good sale. LOL!)
Thanks for the review Ashley! :)

    1. I think they are too pricey too and very hit and miss! Their blushes are great, and I like their powders. Even with a sale I wouldn't recommend this haha! Thank you Renny!

  6. Thanks so much for letting us all know about this primer! I will pass on it. Every one said this was so HG but I don't see anything spectacular about it

  7. I could NEVER justify spending $52 on a face primer. It would physically hurt me to swipe my card at the register if I were buying this lol
