Hello! I did a review the the ColourPop Lippie Stix last week and today I have a review for the Where The Light Is shadow set. This was designed by youtuber Kathleen Lights and I love watching her videos and the shadow set she created is absolutely gorgoues.
When I was browsing colourpops shadow section, I got a little overwhelmed on which shadows to choose. And since I have too many damn eyeshadows already, I didn't really need or want any particular shades so I decided to get a shadow set instead so didn't have to sit and pick out colors. I debated on getting the Metamorphosis set from Coffee break with Dani, which is also gorgoues but I choose the KathleenLights one because I just wear gold/bronze shades more.
This set comes with 4 individual shadows, and is $20. Their shadows are $5 each which is pretty great!
From left to right- Glow, Cornelious, KathleenLights, and Blaze. This shadows are super beautiful and ridiculously pigmented. Glow is a creamy vanilla shade that's a matte finish. Cornelious is the perfect matte transition shade. KathleenLights is the most gorgoues copper gold shade I've ever seen, and it's a pearlized finish. And Blaze is a metallic finish that's described on the website as a 'coco bronze sprinkled with multidimensional glitter'.

My Thoughts-
-The formula of these shadows is very very different than any that I've used. If you've used colourpops products then you know what I'm talking about. For those of you who haven't tried them, they are not quite a cream, but not quite a powder. This feel very silky or siliconey when you touch them, also kind of squishy and mousse like, but they dry and apply like a powder. I really hope that makes since.
-They are best applied with your fingers. I'm not a huge fan of applying my makeup with my fingers but I does make a difference. I will apply them with a brush first, and the dab areas that need more pigmenation with my fingers.
-With that being said, the first time I used these I had a bit of difficultly, and I wasn't too impressed. But since I loved how pretty they were, I gave it another go and the second time was a lot better since I knew how to apply them then. I'm now in love!
- I really do love these, and the price for them is great. The pigmentation is there, they don't fade, and last all day.
-The colors are gorgoues, gold and bronze colors are my all time favorite!
-So if you can get past the weird formula and figure out a good way to apply them that works for you, then I totally recommend these!
Since I already have these shadow I don't think I will try any more from ColourPop, unless another youtuber I love comes out with a set. I just have too many shadows already LOL! I probably won't try their blushes or Bronzers because I don't think I'd like this formula for cheek prodcuts, but maybe I'll try their highlighters!
What are your favorite ColourPop Products?
Are you spying on me? I was just browsing through ColorPop website and was on the fence about purchasing this. Haha! The colours look seriously pretty and very pigmented but I have so many similar shades hence I am still torn whether to purchase it. But now I am seriously curious after reading your review about the texture, I don't think I ever came across anything like it. Dang it, Ashley, you gonna send me to the poor house. Haha!

LOL yes I'm spying on you!!! And I totally think you'd love this. And even thought I have shadows that are similar in color, they still aren't anything like these!! At least they aren't too expensive!!
DeleteThese colors look so pretty on you! I have a few shadows from them and love them but hate applying with fingers. I have some blushes and a highlighter that I will be reviewing soon and sadly so far I don't recommend the highlighter
ReplyDeleteThank you margo! I can't wait to see your review for the blush and highlighter! And oh no, too bad about the highlighter!!
Deletei think they are great quality but i don't like having to apply withy fingers. weird, i know. i have 1 shadow and 1 lip i think!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad someone agrees with me!
DeleteThose colors are gorgeous on you Ashley! Absolutely gorgeous! I love the pigmentation. Bummer with the application! It does sound different from anything I've tried. Hmmm, a new technique to doing things I guess. LOL Thanks for this review :D

Thank you Kim!! And yes it's definitely weird but I guess I'm use to it now!
DeleteThe look you created is gorgeous. I like the matte transition shade in Cornelious. Its so pretty. I agree they are kinda hard to work with at first until you get the hang of them. I also prefer to use brushes over my fingers. The glittery shades are best to use with your finger on your lids.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tanya! And I guess I don't mind using the glittery ones wth my fingers because I do that a lot anyways with regular shadows too!
DeleteThe look you have on your eyes is so pretty! I love the sparkle the glitter shades have. I'm the same way with eyeshadows; I just have so many! The formula of these just seems so strange that I've stayed away. I would like to try a set, but I'm afraid they'll dry out if I don't use them all the time.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lauren!! And I didn't think about them drying out! I have too many shadows to use the all the time so now I'll have to watch them. And maybe just pick out one or two colors incase you don't like the formula!
DeleteI love the colors you used Ashley! That's too bad you get better results applying with your fingers rather than a brush. I prefer a brush too. Great review!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pilar! And I agree- but I guess its not too bad since I still use a brush first then touch up with my fingers!
DeleteI haven't tried Colorpop before, though all thr products seems very interesting, but they become slightly pricey in my country, so it kinda holds me back. I really wanna try the eyeshadow (especially this kathleen lights palette) and the blushes because I heard so many good things about them. Maybe I'll get them next month!
ReplyDeleteThey definitely do have intetesting products! I wonder why its more expensive where you live, but I still think they are definitely worth checking out! It's great quality!
DeleteThe look you created with this is soooo BEAUTIFUL! I feel like I need this just for the KathleenLights shade now because it's so eye catching, though I really don't need anymore eyeshadows either lol :P

Thank you!!! I think you'd love this set, it's so worth it for the two golden shades!
DeleteLove the eye look you created, so pretty on you!
ReplyDeleteI don't really like using my fingers with these, but I kind of have too--I'm not huge on their blushes, or at least they one I have...it's very hard to apply.
