Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation Review

Hello! One of my favorite makeup products to try out is foundation! For the longest time I refused to pay for a high end foundation, but when I rarely could find a drugstore one that I loved and didn't make my face breakout, I finally caved and got a bunch of samples from sephora. Now I'm hooked and can't get enough.
Today I am going to be reviewing the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour full coverage Foundation. I tried out a sample of this last summer, so when I got a coupon from Sephora for a certain amount of money off a $50 purchase, I decided to get this Tarte foundation.

This foundation retails for $38 and comes in 16 different shades. There are ones with pink, yellow, and peach undertones.

What this foundation claims to do:
"A long-wearing, skin-perfecting full coverage foundation with UVA/UVB SPF 15 infused with Amazonian clay for better, longer, truer wear.
Product Performance: Achieve flawless skin that looks healthy and natural. This supremely blendable, buildable and full coverage formula delivers up to 12 hours of satin-matte coverage with a weightless texture. Reduce the appearance of pores, discolorations and imperfections and ensure a perfectly flawless complexion every time."

The packaging to this product is nice. It's a plastic tube that's pretty sturdy and the foundation squeezes out. I prefer foundations with a pump, but the squeeze tube doesn't bother me.

This foundation is pretty thick, but it's really creamy and blends nicely. Since the package has a squeeze tube and the foundation is thick, it doesn't squirt out at  you like a thinner formula would. The color I got was called Ivory and it matches my skin really well.

*My skin type*
First I'm going to talk about my skin type so I can tell you how this foundation works for me. Every product works different on everyone because we all have different skin. I have combination oily skin. My skin isn't super oily but my forehead, sides of my nose, and chin get slightly oily during the day. Since it's winter, the rest of my skin is pretty dry.

My thoughts on this foundation
I tested out applying this a few different ways. I first tried it with my beauty blender and for some reason that didn't work for me. Usually I love my beauty blender, especially for thicker foundations. I next tried it with my Real Techniques Stippling Brush and I liked that a lot better. It really blended and buffed it into my skin nice.
I wouldn't exactly call this foundation full coverage like it claims to be. I would say it's more of a medium coverage, almost full coverage. I still saw a little bit of redness on my skin through the foundation, but other than that it covered my face nice.
It looks natural when you first put it on, but through out the day it looks kind of cakey if you don't blot or powder your face. I would say that it oxidizes slightly as well, since I could see where the foundation was getting splotchy and oily.
I don't think it has the 12 hour staying power that it claims to have. The first two times I wore it, my face looked oily at the end of the day and the foundation started looking splotchy. But since applying it with a stippling brush instead of my beauty blender, the foundation stays better and doesn't look as oily at the end of the day.

Would I recommend or repurchased this foundation?
I would say if you have super oily skin, then this might not be for you unless you don't mind blotting or powdering through the day. I'm not sure how this would work on really dry skin because that's not my skin type.  I do like this Foundation a lot but it's not my favorite so I'm not sure if I would repurchase it. I prefer my Kat Von D lock it tattoo foundation and Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+ over this one!

Have you tried this Tarte Foundation before? If so leave your thoughts in the comments! I love hearing everyones opinions on products that I've tried!!
