Travel Makeup Essentials

Hello! And Goodbye (but not forever)!

On Sunday my husband and I are leaving for vacation, so there won't be any blog posts next week. I thought I'd pop in and say hello and share what makeup I'm bringing with me on our trip! If you want to see some pretty photos, where I'm going, and such- check out my Instagram!

Base makeup

3 foundations? Yes, you are seeing that correctly. It's a bit excessive, but since I am self tanning I am bringing my Milani foundation which is way too dark, so I use it when I self tan. The Maybelline Better Skin is to mix in the the Milani because it's honestly too dark even when I self tan, so I mix them together because the better skin is too light (what?). And the Este Lauder is for days when my self tan fades a little. Yeah, I'm crazy high maintenance.
I'm bringing my Mac Pro Longwear concealer and Rimmel Stay Matte powder because those are things I use everyday. I'm also bringing the Too Faced Hangover Rx Primer, and the Hawaiian Tropic face sunscreen for days that I need to wear them. For my brows I'm bringing the Nyx Micro brow and the Essence gimme brow gel.

Cheeks
For bronzers I'm bringing the Stila Stay All Day Bronzer and the Too Faced Sweet Tea Bronzer. The Sweet Tea has been my favorite Bronzer lately, and it looks really awesome when I self tan. I'm also bringing the a Tarte Bronzer and Highlight duo, mainly because the highlighter in there is my absolute favorite highlighter. For blushes I'm bringing the Wet n Wild Rose Champagne blush, and the Kat Von D Micky and Mallory blush duo. These are my two most used blushes, as you can see from how much I've hit pan on both.

Eyes and Lips

I'm bringing the Tartelette in Bloom palette because it's my favorite, and for primer I'm bringing my Mac painterly paint pot. For liners I have the L'Oréal liner intense, a L'Oréal pencil liner in black, and the Urban Decay 24/7 liner in smokeout. For mascara I'm bringing Covergirl Supersizer. I'm trying to keep it minimal for lip products, so I'm bringing Mac blankety and Mac Velvet Teddy. I also have Whirl in my purse, so that will probably come too.

It's super hard not to overpack on makeup! I was going to bring my Morphe blush palette too, but I made myself out it back. I didn't include my brushes in this one, but If anyone wants to see my everyday makeup brushes that I currently use, I can do a separate post on that when I get back!

What's In My Makeup Bag?

Hello!! I'm sorry for the lack of posts lately! I've been sick with a cold for almost two weeks! I've been slacking on the makeup looks but I promise I'll have some up soon!

I was tagged by Margo on Instagram a few weeks ago to do a 'what's in my makeup bag' but I totally spaced and forgot to post a pic on Instagram for it. So I thought I'd do a blog post on it instead, because I have excessive amounts and I don't think I could fit it all in one picture LOL!
This is the bag I always carry in my purse. I believe it's from target- I've been using it for years so I'm not 100% sure. I like this one because it matches all my purses pretty well.

Nude by Nature setting powder- this was sent to me by my lovely friend Natalie when she sent me some Australian goodies during our beauty swap. I always keep a powder with me to touch up if I need it. And I think the packaging on this is so cute and pretty!
Concealer stick- I think this is from Maybelline (the label wore off!) but I always keep this for touch up too.
Hand sanitizer- because germs, yo.
Ease Up headache and tension relief oil- i got this in my September BuddhiBox and its a roller ball with an essential oil blend for headaches and tension relief. This also smells amazing so it dupes as a perfume ;)
Wellsmith Scented Shea Butter- another item from BuddhiBox, I like that this is small and can for easily in my purse. It's a great lotion/hand balm and also smells amazing. Plus it's in s cute little tin and I feel fancy that it's not like s regular lotion in a tube.
The Body Shop lip butter- I always have to have some kind of chapstick or lip balm with me! This one is moisturizing and smells good.

And here is the rest of my excessive (and embarrassing) amounts of lip products. Nars lip crayon in Rikugien, Nyx Butter Glosses in tiramisu and Creme brûlée, Nyx Butter Lipstick in Pops, 2 lipbalms, and Nyx lipliner in Natural. All of these Nyx products I have multiples of so I just throw them into my purse.

I also carry two brow pencils, two eyeliners, a mini mascara, hair tie and hair pin. The reason for the two brow pencils and eyeliners is you have no idea how many times I've gone to use them and the tip is broke off or they need to be sharpened. So I put extras in there so this doesn't happen bahaha. Or maybe I just like to hoard things.

OK now that you've all seen the excessive amounts of things I stuff into this little makeup bag, tell me what do you always carry with you in yours? Let me know in the comments!!

June Ipsy Bag

Hello hello!!
I hope this post doesn't turn into a rant, but I didn't show my last months ipsy bag because it was disappointing and wasn't worth showing. It's the same case for this month but I'm going to show it anyways. I had months of crappy bags and then I had a few good ones so I was having hope that ipsy was stepping up their game. Now I'm back to being disappointed. Well, as disappointed that I can be paying only $10 a month :p

This months theme was Swim Into Beauty with a waterproof makeup bag.

These masks were the only thing I was kind of excited about, but only because I got three of them. They are from Bio Repulic and they are fiber masks. One is detoxing, one revitalizing, and one is soothing. I haven't tried anything like these before so I may do a review on them.

Next up is the Smashbox Photo Ready Primer. Now I think most would be excited about this but I am not because I already know this doesn't agree with my skin and breaks my face out.

I don't get excited about body butters or lotions in my bags. I have tons of lotions that I already use and my skin is sensitive so this is a big dud for me. It's by the brand Lavanilla which I have always wanted to try so I thought maybe it will be okay. No. This smells like straight up perfume and not a pretty soothing vanilla hand lotion like I was expecting.

Next up is a shadow stick by trèStique. I normally like stuff like this but I don't care for the color. I usually only like to use cream shadows on my lids and this is definitely not a lid color. I will give props for the cute packaging that looks like a crayon though!

Next is this god awful magenta lip crayon. I just cannot wear lip colors like these. They look great on a lot of people but I can't do it. Ipsy is famous for sending me the worst lip colors, I swear every month I get them.

So this bag gets a big thumbs down for me. I've considered unsubscribing but I wish there was another subscription box that was good that didn't cost an arm and a leg LOL. I'm too cheap to pay over $10 and all the ones I want are over $20 haha!

What did you get in your ipsy bag this month?
