Unicorn Tears Makeup Tutorial | Strobe Cosmetics

Hi :)

Today I have a makeup tutorial using Strobe Cosmetics Unicorn Tears eyeshadow. This is a stunning purple shadow that has a blue duo chrome shift to it. This is probably going to be my last colorful makeup look for summer time, and I'll be moving on to do back to school makeup videos and fall inspired makeup very soon!

Also, I know I said my vacation vlog was going to be up this week, but I still have edited it yet. I took so many videos and clips so I felt a little overwhelmed, especially because I don't know what kind of music I'm going to use with it. I know youtube doesn't like you to use copy rite music on your channel, so does anyone know of any good music I can use without my video being taken down?

Last week I shared a tutorial using Sea of Ghosts, and I was really happy with the way that it turned out. The camera was positioned really well for me to do my eye makeup, but in this tutorial I had issues and I kept putting my head out of the camera frame!  Ugh! It bothered me super bad, but I didn't want to refilm and edit the video. It's not that bad, but I did edit out parts when I applied eyeliner because I was totally out of frame. 

I'm still getting use to filming myself doing my makeup so I hope next time it will be better like the Sea of Ghosts one was!

Sea of Ghosts | Strobe Cosmetics Tutorial

Hello!

I keep raving about the Sea of Ghosts eyeshadow by Strobr Cosmetics. I think this might just be my favorite eyeshadow that I've ever owned! It's such a stunning and unique color, and today you get to see it in action because I have a makeup tutorial!

Strobe Cosmetics Eyeshadow Review | Druid, Azura, and Sea of Ghosts

A little over a month ago while I was scrolling through my Instagram news feed and I came across a post by Trendmood of some gorgeous eyeshadows and swatches from a brand I've never heard of- Strobe Cosmetics. They peaked my interest, so I went on to check out Strobe Cosmetic's Instagram and my brain went into full impulse mode and I knew I had to purchase some of their shadows.

A little bit about Strobe Cosmetics

"Strobe Cosmetics is a 100% cruelty free and vegan cosmetic line; offering super-saturated pigmentation through a full line of eyeshadow, glitter, and more (Coming 2016). 

Formulating our own cosmetics is profoundly important to us. Every product we create is formulated and tested by our privately owned lab, confirming the formula's quality, pigmentation, and longevity. Our lab is privately owned by Strobe Cosmetics, we do not go through any manufacturers or private labeling companies. That is what sets Strobe apart from other brands on the market; we have complete and total control over what goes into our products. "

These shadows are $6.50 a piece and are slightly bigger than Mac and Makeup Geek shadows. I'm kicking myself for not taking a photo comparing the size. If anyone wants to see what the look like side by side to compare I'll post a photo on snap chat, so let me know! The three colors I picked out are (from right to left) Sea of Ghosts, Druid, and Azura. 

These shadows have some awesome and crazy pigmentation. I could not believe the quality of them for how affordable they are. The colors are super intense, and probably the most intense eyeshadows that I own!

From left to right- Sea of Ghosts, Druid, and Azura. I'm going to give a small description of each shadow and show the makeup look that I did using it, and then I will give my final thoughts at the end. 

Sea of Ghosts

I can't even describe the beauty of this shadow. It's describes as "multi chrome shadow with gold green and blue shifts. It's a very complex color; its base shade is medium toned blue, but it shifts to gold and green duo-chrome shimmer finish)". Everything about this shadow is stunning. The name is intriguing and alluring, just like the color of it is. I don't own anything like this, and everything about this shade drew me in. 

This one was a bit difficult to apply, but it's explained on the website- 'Please be aware that due to the larger paticle size of this shadow it may result in more fallout than our regular shadows. We suggest patting the shadow on rather than "brushing" or "rubbing" '. There definitely was a lot of fall out when I applied this, but a wet brush, patting motions, and using my finger helped a lot. And since it's so stunning, all was forgiving and forgot about. 

I'm planning on doing a video tutorial using this shadow very soon!

Druid- this one is described as ' A warm earthy brown base with an intense green/ teal duochrome shift'. This is one of those awesome shadows that look different depending on which type/color shadow base that you use. 

Here's some swatches using different bases. I was super drawn to this one too because 1. The name (Druid is one of my favorite classes to play in world of Warcraft- yes I'm a dork), and 2.  It just looked SO earthy and beautiful. I wanted to feel like a woodland fairy/elf who lived in a tree (what?).

I used a very green base for this and loved how it turned out. I did a FOTD post on this look a few weeks ago (click HERE if you haven't seen it!)

Azura- An aqua blue with an intense teal/ green duochrome. I was afraid this was going to be really similar to Makeup Geek's Mermaid, but it is a lot more teal toned and intense, and mermaid is more bluelish. 

I really love how this one turned out too. For the shadow base for this one, I used colourpop's Belladonna Lily with Azura on top and then a mix of Mac shadows for the crease and lash line. 

My Overall Thoughts

-I am so impressed with these shadows and am craving more, it's ridiculous. These are so intense and pigmented and I am completely obsessed. 

-They are super afforable and decent sized. They are creamy and blend well. The formula is awesome and they apply nice. I did mention above that Sea of Ghosts was hard to work with, but that's warned on their website because of the large particles but since it's so stunning, it wasn't a huge deal for me. 

I do wish these fit into my Mac palettes, which is kind of a love hate thing. I love how they are larger in size, but I don't own a z palette so it's a bummer. I hate having random single shadows (besides Coloupop because their packaging is good), but I did save the little plastic cases these came in so those will work for now. 

If anyone hasn't tried these shadows and are interested, I highly recommend checking them out! I already have a list of other ones that I want to purchase!

I'm definitely going to do a video tutorial using Sea of Ghosts because the photos just don't even do it justice of how stunning and unique it is. If anyone wants to see a tutorial on the other two, let me know!

FOTD | Druid by Strobe Cosmetics

The past few days I've been playing my shadows that I purchased from Strobe Cosmetics, and posting photos of my makeup looks on my Instagram and Snapchat (if you don't follow me on snapchat- ashhsue  you should!). These shadows are all very colorful and aren't like any colors that I own! I've always wanted to be bold with colorful makeup, but it's definitely out of my comfort zone. I'm having a ton of fun with these though, and it makes me want to wear colorful makeup looks more!

I will be doing a full review on these shadows soon, and sharing more makeup looks with them, but today's post is going to focus on the shadow I bought called Druid. This the most neutral of the shadows I bought, and it's a pretty brown based shadow with an intense green and teal duo chrome shift. Depending on the type of base you use, it can pull different colors and appear different shades. I will go into my detail and show swatches of that in my review. 

This shadow is definitely gorgeous, but did I buy it just because Druid's are one of my favorite classes to play in World of Warcraft? Probably. 

Face Makeup 

Too Faced Hangover Rx Primer, Loreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation, Mac Pro Longwear Concealer, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, Too Faced Sweet Tea Bronzer, Makeup Revolution Matte blush in Nude, ABH Glow Kit, Mac Blankety Lipstick. 

Eyes 

1. I used Mac painterly paint pot to prime, and Maybelline color tattoo in Edgy Emerald for my base. 

2. For my transition shade I used Mac Soft Brown. Then I used Makeup Geek Frappe to darken my crease. 

4. I used Strobe Cosmetics Druid all over my lid, and blended it slightly into my crease. I also used Sunburst from the ABH glow kit in my inner corner. 

5. Then I finished up the look with winged liner using Wet n Wild Megaliner, Coloupop Swerve on my waterline, and Covergirl Super Sizer for my mascara.

And this competes my makeup look! This Druid color was so fun to play with! The other two looks I did are definitely more colorful and intense than this one. I will share them in my review for these shadows next week. I will definitely do a detailed FOTD, or eye look post/video on the other two looks if anyone is interested!

Currently Testing #2

Hello! Happy Monday!

Back in April I did a blog post called 'Currently Testing' where I showed some new products that I was trying out, so you guys could see which reviews to expect in the future on my blog! I wanted to do another one, because I am testing out some new things! I think I had more to share in April, but I still wanted to do this post because a few of the items in this post are ones that I'm pretty excited about. 

-Shea Moisture Problem Skin Toner. My target was out of my favorite Burts Bees acne solution toner and I was super bummed. I was desperate so I decided to give this one from Shea Moisture a try. It's for 'clear and balaced, blenished, oily skin' and it also has tea tree in it, which I've had good luck with. I'm undecided how I feel about this. I don't hate it, but I don't love it. 

-Origins By All Greens Foaming Deep Cleansing mask. I got this as a free delux sample from one of Sephora's mobile offers. So far, I really like this. 

-Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion. I found this in the travel section on the beauty isle in target, and bought this for when I went out of town over Memorial Day weekend. I normally wouldn't share something like this, but I think I've found my new favorite hand lotion!

-Strobe Cosmetics Eyeshadows. I shared a few pictures of these and an eye look I did using one of them on my Instagram and snapchat. You'll see more on these later in a review! This company was one I never heard of until I saw swatched on Trendmood's Instagram and my brain went into total impulse buy mode. I regret nothing. 

Too Faced Sweet Tea Bronzer. After seeing Tanya and Kim's review for this, I had to have it. I've been testing it out for bronzing and contouring, which is exciting because it's been a while since I've bought a new bronzer. So far I really like this (spoiler alert!) and I will have a full review on it very soon!
